Cable reels are used for storing, unwinding, and winding and contain conductive or lifting cable. Reels are devices that wrap continuous, lengthy items for storage or transportation, including cable, cables, paper, and other materials. Reels and other straightforward storage options and more sophisticated self-winding models are available. Electric cable reels have contacts that maintain electricity as they are being incorporated. Additionally, live connections may be provided, enabling you to use a hose or electrical cable while the reel is still in place.

There are several techniques for rewinding cable reels. Some possibilities are manual or crank, hydraulic, pneumatic, electric, and spring; there is no attached rewind mechanism on a manual or crank rewind reel. Operators must use a hand crank or other manual method to wind the hose or cable. Electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic rewind reels are powered by a motor that coils the reel back around itself. The wheel on a spring rewind reel is wound using an internal spring.

Types of Cable Reels

Wooden Cable Reels: As the name implies, wood is used to make wooden cable reels. Wooden cable reels are employed in applications where big loads must be transported. You may reel wires, ropes, and electrical cables with the wooden reels. Depending on the goods being transported, they may be customized to fit a range of traverse lengths and flange sizes.

Plywood Cable Reels: The planks are bathed and heated to soften the wood before the veneers are cut into the proper shapes and sizes. This process might take anywhere from 12 to 40 hours, depending on the type of wood. One treated log at a time is placed into a peeling lathe, where it is fed to a full-length knife blade. The block's diameter is then reduced to 3 to 4 inches. The veneer is then cut into usable widths per industry requirements for plywood sheets. The plywood cable reel is also offered in marine and shuttering materials.

Plastic Cable Reels: These are a reliable and portable alternative packaging option for manufacturers of monofilament and insulated wire. Reels made of plastic may be recycled entirely.

Steel Cable Reels: Steel barrels have mostly replaced traditional wooden drums in the offshore sector's cable and wire business. There are also foldable steel drums. However, permanent steel drums with welding are more common. Although they cost a lot more, steel reels and drums are more durable than hardwood drums and are produced with eco-friendly methods.
Spring Cable Reels: To mechanically reel in cables, spring cable reels are employed on various moving machines.

Retractable Cable Reels: Some cable reels integrate a retraction mechanism into the design. The wires on these reels often transmit the central power, while air hoses work on a similar system. When access to air or fuel is required in various locations, retractable cable reels are very helpful.

Fixed Reels: Because they are permanently built, fixed reels set themselves apart from take-apart reels. In lifting and hauling equipment like cranes, elevators, and ropeways, these reels are used to wind and unwind steel wire ropes and power cables.

●     Mounted on shafts: Shaft-mounted reels are among our most well-liked and versatile cable retractors since their cable tension is so simple to change.

●     Vehicles, mainly off-road trucks, use cable reels. For instance, when a car becomes bogged in mud, they are used to reel it out.

●     Steel reels designed particularly for conveying and storing fiber optic wires are frequently used for packaging fiber optic cables.
