Audio over CAT is an analogue solution for getting 4 balanced Mic or Line signals over 1 Cat ethernet cable, which is not to be confused with digital solutions such as Dante. (See *Limitations for details.)
To utilize ‘Audio Over Cat’ you will need three things…
- Female ‘Satellite’ box or ‘Cat Adapter’
- Cat network cable or reel
- Male ‘Satellite’ box or ‘Cat Adapter’ or ‘AoC Patchbay’
*Limitations
- Adapting the XLRs to unbalanced with converters may produce odd sounding results across all channels.
- Only compatible with shielded network cables with an RJ45 or Ethercon connector. They will not work with un-shielded cables. We recommend Van Damme Flexi, featured below.
- These products should not be connected into LAN or ethernet routers or switches!
